Cassandra Clare To Release City of Lost Souls (Mortal Instruments Book # 5)

Cassandra Clare

After buying Cassandra Clare's City of Bones and City of Ashes ages ago I was immediately hooked with its dark premise and quite scary tone. From then on I always put it to my reminders to watch out for her new books, especially with her Mortal Instruments series, where the two aforementioned books belong. This series is a reminiscent of The Twilight Saga, but focuses more on the dark and fantastic paranormal.

Just recently, I was surprised to know that I am already two books behind this series. I wasn't able to buy and read the fourth book City of Fallen Angels, which was just released last year. And now I was yet again surprised that another book would come out this coming May. I am very occupied with too many novel series that I can't keep up with the latest updates. Luckily, I was able to visit Amazon and was surprised that she is going to publish City of Lost Souls, the penultimate book in the series and to be concluded in City of Heavenly Fire.

Check out the book's cover art, that follows the same concept of the first four books:

City of Lost Souls will focus this time on Jace, who will be freed from the captivity of a sly demon called Lilith. But this freedom will have a great price as he will be changed for the worse by the demon's dark magic and he will be bound against his free will to the evil Sebastian. Only the Clave can save him from this bond and in order to achieve this feat they must band together to unite their force. Clary, who loves Jace so dearly, must only rely on the hope that Jace can still be saved. But in the end it is her decision of whether to take action or not would determine Jace's fate. Will she venture into the abyss of darkness to save her love and challenge both heaven and hell?

You can check out Entertainment Weekly to watch the books video trailer that focuses on the character of Sebastian.

The book will be available for purchase on May 8, 2012.
