Eoin Colfer, one of my most favorite authors, will be publishing a new series for children. Colfer, who is best known for his Artemis Fowl books, uses another unlikely boy hero in his latest novel titled WARP: The Reluctant Assassin.
WARP is short for Witness Anonymous Relocation Program used by the FBI to hide important witnesses in the past. It is a high concept series described by the author as 'Oliver Twist meets The Matrix'.
If you could see the pattern, Artemis Fowl is a genius and a mastermind criminal, while Riley, the main character of the first book, is an assassin. How cool could that be?
Check out the official cover of WARP: The Reluctant Assassin:
According to the author's webiste, the first book features a Victorian boy, Riley, who goes on the run in 21st century London pursued by a ruthless assassin from his own time. Riley must rely on his wits and the help of a young FBI agent if he is to survive.
Updated: You can now download for free the first chapter of WARP: The Reluctant Assassin.
WARP will be published by Puffin Books and a representative of the publisher described "WARP [as] a fantastic combination of everything Eoin is best known for: gripping adventure, a villain to die for and a fabulous contrast of characters from two very different worlds coming together. This is the start of a major new series from Eoin and I couldn't be more thrilled to be working with him again."
WARP: The Reluctant Assassin will be published in UK on April 11, 2013 and in May 2013 in US. The book is now available for pre-order.
