Here I was doing virtually nothing in this very boring long weekend (since Monday is a holiday), when I was suddenly stopped by an apparition. I was caught off guard when I saw the new aka second teaser poster of the The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

For a moment my boring weekend turned to a temporary pandemonium. But of course it didn't last because I was over took by my depression once again, after realizing I still have many months to wait before I could watch the movie.

The jolly cast of Wizard, Hobbit and Dwarves will be be joined by new cast members. Although we cannot see most of them here in the poster, becasue it features the iconic eyes of Smaug as he gaze upon out little hero, Bilbo Baggins of Bag End, Shire.

The movie stars Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Evangeline Lilly, John Bell, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Benedict Cumberbatch, Luke Evans, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Graham McTavish, Michael Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Ken Stott and Aidan Turner.

Check out this fantastic new teaser poster of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Do you think this poster is the real thing and not fan made?

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Teaser Poster

The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellan) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage). The Dwarfs, Bilbo and Gandalf have successfully escaped the misty mountains, but Bilbo has gained the one ring. They all continue their journey to get their gold back off the Dragon, Smaug.

Here are some other materials from the movie.

Peter Jackson certainly knows how to stir up any fan and I hate to think that The Hobbit has affected me in this kind of way as well.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits cinemas on December 13, 2013.

  1. It is the real thing, but it's not officially a poster - although the same art may potentially be used as a poster I guess.

It's actually a cover for one of the upcoming tie-in books that got chopped by TORn and posted as 'key art' and thus has misinformation spread all over the internet.
