We rarely see James Franco behind the scenes of a movie production as a director, but for him to actually adapt a novel by Cormac McCarthy may be a little too ground-breaking. This is the fourth movie he has directed so far, and the previous one may prove to be too realistic for minor viewers and the other two too heavy drama for the overly sensitive.
Child of God is a heavy drama movie starring Scott Haze, Tim Blake Nelson, Jim Parrack and James Franco himself. The screenplay was written by James Franco as well, together with Vince Jolivette. James Franco is featured as the character named Jerry. What is that for a complete almost one-man show movie credit?

Synopsis
A dispossessed, violent man who's life is a disastrous attempt to exist outside the social order. Successively deprived of parents and homes and with few other ties, Ballard descends literally and figuratively to the level of a cave dweller as he falls deeper into crime and degradation.
Child of God has premiered in Venice last August 31, 2013. International releases have not been disclosed yet.
