What's common among Rurouni Kenshin, Death Note, Blood, Mushi-Shi? They are all Japanese materials -- either Anime, Manga or OVA -- so successful movie makers created the live-action adaptation of each of them. But then again none of them featured a Hollywood movie actor unlike this upcoming live-action movie adaptation entitled Kite.
Kite is a live-action adaptation of the Japanese OVA of the same title. This action-thriller movie is directed by Ralph Ziman based on the screenplay written by Yasuomi Umetsu. It stars Samuel L. Jackson as Karl Aker, India Eisley as Sawa, Callan McAuliffe as Oburi, Russel Savadier as Old Boy, Jaco Muller as Kratsov, Liam J. Stratton as Sawa's Father, and Keci Eatock as the younger Sawa.

Synopsis
Released as two halves in Japan, the 1998 anime was directed by Yasuomi Umetsu and told the story of a sexually abused orphaned schoolgirl, Sawa, who becomes an assassin.
The original is famous for its high level of sex and violence, Kite has been planned for a live-action version for some time. In 2008, it was announced that Mexican directors Jorge and Javier Aguilera were attached, though nothing significant developed.
Kite starts flying to theaters sometime this year.
