I still remember the days when John Green was not into my system and blood stream. That was a few years ago. If there is one phrase to describe him, he has to be my "reality checker." I both loved and hated the day I read his most popular book, The Fault in Our Stars. Because in that day I started to realize how great YA novels were, and the bad part is I can't get my self out of that.
Fast forward a few years and we are now anticipating for the movie adaptation of the said book. The book was adapted to screen by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the same team that brought us (500) Days of Summer and The Spectacular Now. So we can be rest assured of how the movie will turn out...
The fandom was a little ecstatic when it was announced that Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, both in the recently released Divergent as siblings, will play the lead roles of Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters. We've seen how they work together and so far we can be satisfied -- I am only hoping that I could take Four out in the picture whenever I see them together.
We only have to wait until June 6, 2014, to see if director Josh Boone has handled to movie well enough for our liking... And I've heard author John Green was smiling broadly.
In a not so surprising turn of events -- and a few weeks later -- 20th Century Fox, the same studio that produced the said adaptation, will not kick on the brakes but will keep on with the momentum by adapting another of John Green's novel called Paper Towns. Imagine John Green's ear-to-ear smile when two out his books make it to the bigscreen!
Well, if you only knew that the novel was previously optioned for a movie, with the author doing the first draft of the screenplay... Which at the end became quite a disaster due to some artistic differences. It was a blessing in disguise actually. Just see how TFIOS turned out to be!
After four (4) John Green solo novels, two (2) collaborative works, one (1) fantastic vlog and two (2) movie adaptations, what's in store for the future? How can one fan satisfy the hunger for all-things-John-Green? Is there still hope waiting for us at the other side of the horizon? We'll maybe it's time to share the chirping of a bird: John Green is beginning to write his next book and it's called The Racket...
