The dystopian world (others may claim otherwise) featured in the Shatter Me universe by Tahereh Mafi may be a troubled and dangerous one, but the nothing can be said the same when it comes to the covers of the books in the series. The covers are beautiful and ocularly unique and Defy Me, the upcoming and fifth book in the series, in particular is a chilling and icy one.
Continuing the story of Juliette and Warner, this penultimate installment in the series will pave the way to the grande finale of the series. Have your fill of this stunning cover and see beyond what the naked eye can see...

#CoverReveal: Sun Eater Book 2: 'Howling Dark' (Gollancz, UK Edition) By Christopher Ruocchio
Last year (2018), author Christopher Ruocchio had a blast of a debut with the first book in his Sun Eater series called Empire of Silence. He made it clear that he'd be a new voice to watch out for. And come a few months from now he will be releasing the sequel called Howling Dark, which would either establish his name in the epic SFF genre or... I cannot imagine the alternative if there's really one.
The official cover of the UK edition of Howling Dark has been unveiled (but I am still waiting for the US edition to match my first book). It is such one colorful and gorgeous cover that definitely exceeded the somber aura of the UK edition cover of its predecessor. This cover was designed by Patrick Knowles, giving life to Hadrian Marlowe (the main character of the novel).

Synopsis
The second novel of the galaxy-spanning Sun Eater series merges the best of space opera and epic fantasy, as Hadrian Marlowe continues down a path that can only end in fire.
Hadrian Marlowe is lost.
For half a century, he has searched the farther suns for the lost planet of Vorgossos, hoping to find a way to contact the elusive alien Cielcin. He has not succeeded, and for years has wandered among the barbarian Normans as captain of a band of mercenaries.
Determined to make peace and bring an end to nearly four hundred years of war, Hadrian must venture beyond the security of the Sollan Empire and among the Extrasolarians who dwell between the stars. There, he will face not only the aliens he has come to offer peace, but contend with creatures that once were human, with traitors in his midst, and with a meeting that will bring him face to face with no less than the oldest enemy of mankind.
If he succeeds, he will usher in a peace unlike any in recorded history. If he fails...the galaxy will burn.
Howling Dark (UK Edition) by Christopher Ruocchio will be released on July 2, 2019.

City Of Ghosts Book 2: 'Tunnel Of Bones' By Victoria "V.E." Schwab Gets Official Cover, Synopsis, and Release Date
I really loved Jonathan Stroud's Lockwood and Co. series. That is why when the series ended I was clamoring to find some similar books to fill in the void it left me. I tested some waters on select titles and City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab, also known as V.E. Schwab for adult readers, definitely hit the mark and was exactly what I was looking for.
Thankfully it's not a stand alone book, and the second book in the series is about to hit bookstores this year. This second book is called Tunnel of Bones -- you can see below its official cover and you can read on for its synopsis.

Synopsis
Trouble is haunting Cassidy Blake . . . even more than usual.
She (plus her ghost best friend, Jacob, of course) are in Paris, where Cass's parents are filming their TV show about the world's most haunted cities. Sure, it's fun eating croissants and seeing the Eiffel Tower, but there's true ghostly danger lurking beneath Paris, in the creepy underground Catacombs.
When Cass accidentally awakens a frighteningly strong spirit, she must rely on her still-growing skills as a ghosthunter -- and turn to friends both old and new to help her unravel a mystery. But time is running out, and the spirit is only growing stronger.
And if Cass fails, the force she's unleashed could haunt the city forever.
#1 New York Times bestselling author Victoria Schwab returns to the spooky and heart-pounding world of City of Ghosts, delivering thrilling new adventures and an unforgettable spin on friendship. (Because sometimes, even psychic ghost best friends have secrets. . .)
Tunnel of Bones by Victoria "V.E." Schwab will be released on September 3, 2019.

Step Aside Greg Heffley -- "Diary Of An Awesome Friendly Kid: Rowley Jefferson's Journal" By Jeff Kinney Is Coming
In an unexpected twist of fate author Jeff Kinney has surpassed mine and every one's expectations. When we hear the name Jeff Kinney we always remember Greg Heffley in his widely popular comic book (aka journal) series called Diary of a Wimpy Kid. This series shows no sign of stopping and there's already a dozen of these enjoyable books that brought smiles to my every year, and probably yours too.
This year he is breaking this pattern and come summer he will be releasing another Diary or Journal with a simple twist. Instead of focusing on the perspective of the beloved Greg Heffley we will be getting (probably a series) one in the perspective of Rowley Jefferson, who is Greg innocently adorable best friend. The book is called Diary Of An Awesome Friendly Kid: Rowley Jefferson's Journal.
Checkout the cover of Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid: Rowley Jefferson's Journal by Jeff Kinney.
Synopsis
Get ready for a whole new look into Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid! Introducing the newest Wimpy Kid author—Rowley Jefferson! Rowley’s best friend Greg Heffley has been chronicling his middle-school years in thirteen Diary of a Wimpy Kid journals . . . and counting. But it’s finally time for readers to hear directly from Rowley in a journal of his own. In Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid, Rowley writes about his experiences and agrees to play the role of biographer for Greg along the way. (After all, one day Greg will be rich and famous, and everyone will want to know his life’s story.) But Rowley is a poor choice for the job, and his “biography” of Greg is a hilarious mess. Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid: Rowley Jefferson’s Journal offers readers a new way to look at the Wimpy world—one fans won’t want to miss!

'Bloodchild' By Anna Stephens Gets Official Synopsis, Plus Updates On UK Edition Books I Look Forward To
Here is to kicking off the new year!
As mentioned on one of my old blog posts, I do collect UK edition books but rarely. Examples of the books that belong in this category are Scott Lynch's Gentlemen Bastard series, Samantha Shannon's The Bone Season series, and a select signed limited hardcover editions only sold at Anderida Books.
This year of 2019, I have already bought a signed limited hardcover edition of King of Assassins by RJ Barker (thanks, Anderida), preordered The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, posted some cover and other details for Crowfall by Ed McDonald, and soon Anna Stephens' Bloodchild will have it's official cover revealed as well. I have preordered a copy along with a few other interesting titles. You should do the same.
So for those of you wondering where I get my UK edition books, and/or hardcovers that are not available in most bookstores: Anderida Books is the answer.
For now, read on for the synopsis of Bloodchild by Anna Stephens that I was able to get from Goodreads.
In this epic grimdark conclusion to the Godblind Trilogy, heroes, armies, and gods both good and evil will battle one last time, with the fate of the world itself at stake... The great city of Rilpor has fallen. Its walls have crumbled under the siege by the savage Mireces; its defenders have scattered, fleeing for their lives; its new rulers plot to revive the evil Red Gods using the city's captured, soon-to-be-sacrificed citizens. Now, with the Fox God leading the shattered remnants of the Rilporian defence and the Mireces consolidating their claim on the rest of the country, it's up to Crys, Tara, Mace, Dom and the rest to end the Red Gods' scourge once and for all. While the Rilporians plan and prepare for one final, cataclysmic battle to defeat their enemies, the Blessed One and the king of the Mireces have plans of their own: dark plans that will see gods resurrected and the annihilation of the Dancer for all time. Key to their plan is Rillirin, King Corvus's sister, and the baby--the Bloodchild--she carries. As both sides face their destinies and their gods, only one thing is clear: death waits for them all.
Bloodchild by Anna Stephens will be released on August 22, 2019.
