Last time, I claimed the Howling Dark by Christopher Ruocchio may have been the best sequel cover revealed this year. Well I guess I am glad to have been proven wrong, because not only did I find a far better cover this year, but it is coming from the same team that brought us the then best cover! And they just outdid themselves -- all within less than a year!
Yes, I know I've been complaining a lot about cover consistency and continuity at Daw Books and Publishing but we can't really deny that some of the best covers came from this publishing house. Christopher Ruocchio is lucky in that area, because the design team for his books are not hesitating to stand-out and produce the best final output. We all owe this to artist Kieran Yanner, who took over from Sam Weber as cover artist since the second book in this series. And if I am not mistaken we also have Katie Anderson to thank for the cover design and art direction (please feel free to correct me if I am wrong).
